Mexico’s largest private retailer Grupo Coppel SA is shaking up the structure of its top management, all while keeping it within the family.
Diego Coppel Sullivan is taking over as Chief Executive Officer and overseeing the retail, bank and pension fund operations of the group, according to a statement. He replaces his uncle, Agustin Coppel Luken, who will remain as group chairman after serving as both CEO and Chairman since 2008.
The move marks the first time the closely-held group has separated the CEO and chairman roles.
